APOREM - PORTUGUESE CORPORATE ASSOCIATION WITH MUSEUM

(APOREM - ASSOCIAÇÃO PORTUGUESA DE EMPRESAS COM MUSEU)

 

The Association is a corporate body under private law for non-profit cultural purposes. It was established in May, 1992 aiming to advance and spread earnestness of portuguese companies which have maintained the patrimonial wealth and the memory of its bygone and besides, have organized them as open Museums for the community.

The Association is composed of the following museum-collection institutions:

  • Portuguese TV Radio Museum, S.A. (Museu RTP - Radiotelevisão Portuguesa, S.A.)

  • Lisbon Electric Tramways Company Museum (Museu da Companhia Carris de Ferro de Lisboa, S.A.)

  • Lisbon Underground Railway System (Metropolitano de Lisboa)

  • Coffee Museum - "Delta Coffees" (Museu do Café - "Delta Cafés")

  • Museum pertaining to Portuguese Corporation of Explosives (Museu S.P.E.L. - Sociedade Portuguesa de Explosivos, S.A.)

  • Museum pertaining to Cement Works Maceira-Lis "Secil" (Museu da Fábrica de Cimento Maceira-Liz - "Secil")

  • Water Museum - Water Supplies EPAL (Museu da Água da E.P.A.L., S.A.)

  • Power Plant EDP Museum (Museu de Electricidade - E.D.P.)

  • Santos Barosa Glass Manufacturers’ Museum (Museu Santos Barosa da Fabricação do Vidro)

  • "National" Factory’s Museum (Núcleo Museológico da "Nacional")

APAC - PORTUGUESE ASSOCIATION OF RAILWAYS'FRIENDS

(APAC - ASSOCIAÇÃO PORTUGUESA DOS AMIGOS DO CAMINHO DE FERRO)

 

APAC is a non-profit association which only aims in promoting interest for all railway vehicles, trying to bring together all those interested in railways.
It was established in 1977, having presently about 800 members in Portugal and in Europe.

It has at one’s disposal a Documentation Centre and an audio-visuals section. It publishes a bi-monthly magazine "Bastão-Piloto" and a monthly bulletin "APAC News"; besides other publications relating to specific sector of railroad transport investigation. Further, it promotes diverse activities relating to the history of railways and electric tramways, railways photography, philately, medalistic and modelling.

It undertakes the annual anniversary excursion in dining car, regular visits through the national railways network and pleasure trips in steam locomotives.

TIMS - PORTUGUESE SECTION OF INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF MILLS

(TIMS - SECÇÃO PORTUGUESA DA SOCIEDADE INTERNACIONAL DE MOLINOLOGIA)

 

TIMS Portugal - is the Portuguese Section of "TIMS - The International Molinological Society". It was established in 1995 through na agreement between TIMS and ARQA - Archaeological Association of Amadora ("Associação de Arqueologia da Amadora") and reckons with the patronage of Municipality of Amadora, in which urban community have its headquarters.
Its aim is to promote activities and projects relating to local, regional and national sphere of action, encouraging circulation of information between its members, guaranteeing its inter-relationship with the international network and fostering establishment of trans-national partnerships in this sphere.
Due to strong adhesion on the part of Municipalities, ONG’s, researchers and learners in different spheres, do confer on it ever-increasing representation (it has members from North to South of the country and in Atlantic Islands) and clearly shows a very deep general concern of portuguese society in knowing, preserving and making good use of a patrimonial wealth of mills which is acknowledged to be one of the most diversified of Europe.
International Conventions on Mills’98 - A Wealth for the Regional Development, held on 10th and 11th October, 1998 marked national opening of TIMS headquarters at Moinho do Penedo - Amadora. TIMS-Portugal publishes annual magazine "Molinologia Portuguesa" and one Informative paper, besides edition of other works and courses, study inspections and thematic trips; surveys and studies; mediation actions and reconstruction of mills; conferences, workshops, meetings; systematic operations of information and public awareness.

AMTC - ASSOCIATION FOR MUSEUM OF TRANSPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS

AMTC - ASSOCIAÇÃO PARA O MUSEU DOS TRANSPORTES E COMUNICAÇÕES

 

A non-profit association established in 1992 and composed of 78 institutional and private members and declared public utility institution on 26 March 1993, with headquarters at Customhouse of Oporto building.
Its main aims are: to establish and maintain a Museum of Transports and Communications; to bring up and maintain a Documentation Centre in the sector of Transports and Communications; to promote interest for Transports and Communications; to protect infrastructures of interest for the Transports and Communications.
Activities advanced comprise sundry sectors, such as: displays; conferences; discussions; music cycles; theater; fairs; training actions. It supports school inspection visits through its educational services aiming at bringing forth ties with the community and organizing animation programs which combine sports of any kind and pedagogics so that they may present as complement to school programs.
Further, it has a Supporting and Information Office for the services of Transports and Communications (GIATT) and affords facility of spaces for realizations of events.
